final project

In this picture i used free hand movement with my pencil in order to get the proportion of my sketch accurate, i used light stroaks in order to asure that i put the lines in the right place . however i then used harder lines to crisp the sketch and make it stand out. I think i captured the weight of the model in my sketch well by using these methods and by using a range of tones in my shading to make the sketch jump out at the viewer. If i could improve something it would be to add more detail on the faces of my model as i left them blank.

in the sketch i think that i used shading well in order to give it a 3D effect, the body, arms and legs are all in proportion which is what i was aiming for to give it a realistic look. I think that you can see the weight in the model by slouching his arm down . I am also pleased with how the fur come out on the monkey sketch.

I did some other quick sketches of various other animals . i was pleased with these because i managed to get them down onb paper quickly and accuratly by using light free pencil movements.
`this week was more about composition so we had to do as many interesting comopositions as we could. Thes particular compositions i think work realy well because all the objects draw the viewers eyes to a main focal point by using the objects and the cloth on the baise . this is a high level of composition. If i could improve something it would be to take more time on them and include more detail.
In these sketches we where asked to draw a constantly moving model. I found this hard to do as i couldnt concentrate on both the drawing and the models movement very well. However i think this helped me in the long run because it fourced me to speed up my sketching and therefor made me be more free with my movements with my pencil on the page. This is good because it means that i could get the basic structure of a drawing down and can then spend more time on the details.

In this sketch i think that my use of measuring helped alot due to the fact that it is a building and therefor needs too be accurate. I like the small details included in it and like the 3D feel you get from it. however, if i had used a softer pencil to draw the darker lines to give it a crisp edge and make it stand out. I could have also improved by adding more shading to the sketch.

I think that this negative was a good idea but lacked detail, this made it unfortunatly a bad sketch. i could have improved this by making the line around the negative crisper, this way it would look more profesional and you could see easier what it was.

muscles

In this sketch the definition in the muscles is realy good , the weight in the model can be seen in the shoulders slouching .Also in the hips this is good because this particular pose shows off the models muscles realy well.

if i could improve anything in the sketch it would be using more fine pencil lines in order to get the position of my model easier instead of using hard lines and having to erase the lines. however i would have used harder lines on the model after i had got the position to make it stand out more . I would have also added more tone to the muscles in order to realy make them stand out. There is some tone added to the muscle which i am proud of, and example of this is on the chest where you can clearly see the muscles contracting creating those lines. The stomach and legs also show a good level of muscle definition. Finaly i think that the proportion of this sketch is very good i achieved this by being very free with my pencil movements in the first stages of the sketch.

twists and bends in posture

This quick sketch i put in because i like the posture or the man .

the proportion of this drawing is good , this is due to the use of a skeleton to get down the basic shape before starting on the actual body structure itself. good example of weight in a drawing too you can really see the weight on the left leg this is correct weight distribution as he is leaning over that leg . also nice example of a open pose all over the legs are open suggesting a strong stance and both arms arm open and not enclosed . However once again this is only a sketch and could have been much better , the scale could have also been better organised so that his feet where in the picture.

This sketch was done in abit more depth as you can see there is clearly more detail in the chest mainly. I like how the twist in the body shows the weight distribution in the legs again giving weight too my drawings . there is also a good use of weight in the shoulders too this is shown mainly by how the right shoulder is lower than the left this is due too the way the poser is turning . this also shows the human body's limits well this is because the poser has twisted as far as his body would let him comfortably. This sketch has a open strong posture on the bottom like the first one but has a closed posture on the top where the twist occurred.

This drawing took me ten minutes and has much more detail than the other two. the posture of this drawing is good because the slight s shape curve in the neck going down too the spine is accurate and shows the weight as does the slouched shoulders this gives off a relaxed stance . from this angle it could be said that the pose is quite closed but in actual fact it is open . the arms are on the hips exposing the body and the legs are open also. the slight bend in the legs shows weight in the hips and upper torso supported be the legs.

setting up own compositions

when i set up this composition i was aiming too have the objects kissing and also use the drapery in order too conct the objects more. I had thirty minuites in order too finish this particular piece above . The rough Quick lines expresses alot of emotion in this drawing but sacrifices detail . The proportion of the center jug is off as it was taller than the others in comparason in real life , had i measuresd more i might have gotten a more accurate representation. Finally the left side of the drawing is busy whilst the right side is quite boring if i did this drawing again i would smake the three objects the central focal point rather than just the one big jug.
This composition is more central and has alot going on the the centre which is faded out by the drapery which was ment too draw the viewers eye too the action which is in the jugs and flowers . This was just a quick sketch to get the composition down on paper . The cola bottle works well with the lines as it does what i aimed for and works with the crease in the drapery too draw the eye in . The scale of the jug isnt as accurate as i would have wanted it too be , i think that if i had again used the meassuring technique then it would have came out much more accurate.
